PREPARATION TO HEAR THE WORD
PRELUDE O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing
CALL TO WORSHIP
God, our Creator, calls, adopting us as family.
Holy, holy, holy God, we gather as your children.
Jesus, our Savior, calls, inviting us in.
Holy, holy, holy Christ, we sit at your feet.
The Spirit calls, inviting us to listen.
Holy, holy, holy Spirit, we joyfully come to worship.
With joy, let us worship the Triune God.
*HYMN # 2 Come, Thou Almighty King
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison)
Holy God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God in three persons, mutual and whole, we confess that our relationships are not that way. We have been too selfish and withheld too much. We have failed to love you with all our heart, soul, and mind; and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We ignore your commandments, stray from your way, and follow other gods. We have exchanged your wisdom for foolishness, spoiled your creation, feared disappointment, and lacked endurance. The love you have poured into our hearts we have allowed to grow cold. Have mercy on us. Forgive our sin and draw us close to your presence that we may know you and the life you give us in all its fullness. Amen.
SILENT CONFESSION
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
*PASSING OF THE PEACE
Since God has forgiven us in Jesus Christ, we also ought to forgive one another.
The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
And also with you.
*GLORIA PATRI
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, World without end. Amen, Amen.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD
*HYMN # 4 Holy God, We Praise Your Name
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
(selected lines from A Declaration of Faith)
The Spirit is one with the Father and the Son.
We believe with the church through the centuries that God is what he has shown himself to be in his story with his people: One God, who is the Creator and Sustainer; the Savior and Lord; the Giver of life within, among, and beyond us.
We may not separate the work of God as Creator from the work of God as Redeemer. We may not set the Son’s love against the Father’s justice.
We may not value the Holy Spirit’s work above the work of the Father and Son.
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one God.
We affirm the richness and variety in God’s being and work.
We may not deny the real distinction in God’s unity.
In God’s eternal being and in all God’s activity, the one God is always and at the same time the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE & THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
